Years ago, many states in the US decided to loosen up their restrictions regarding the use of crossbow for hunting. Consequently, it became a hot product with an increasing demand. Thus, manufacturers find ways to step up their engineering and raise production levels in order to cope with the demands.

  • Scope- the two main types of scopes are multi-dot and red dot scopes. Laws governing the use of scopes may vary from one state to another. It is advisable to check your local laws before buying crossbow.
  • Stock – stocks can either be adjustable or the ones that allow installation of crank cocking devices.
  • String – it must be waxed with every 5 to 10 shots made. Doing this regularly will ensure a crossbow’s useful life much longer. It must be done since lots of friction is created with every movement of the string as it slides down to push the bolt or arrow.
  • Arrow retention spring – this part is vital to hit the target by keeping the arrow or bolt in the right position.
  • Arrows or Bolts – it is either made of aluminum or carbon measuring from 16 to 22 inches long. It is important that these arrows perfectly fit the crossbow you are using to ensure maximum performance.
  • Barrel – it must be kept lubricated using a wax and free from debris, chips or other unnecessary particles.
  • Quiver – look for a quiver with a quick detach feature. This part is connected either to the side of the crossbow running along with the barrel or right under the crossbow.
  • Cables – maintenance is necessary to keep the cables function at its best. These cables are attached through the stock of the crossbow.
